Farewell to a friend

On February 6th, a brave, sweet, little woman named Zoey took her final breath.  She was fortunate to have her wonderful person next to her side, Deb Johnson.
Zoey came into our rescue as an owner surrender many years ago. She initially was housed by one of our fosters, Mary Beth. Mary Beth intended to only foster Zoey butfell in love and decided to adopt her.   Mary Beth had to give her back to the rescue about 2 years ago because Mary Beth had been diagnosed with a very aggressive stage 4 cancer . Sadly, Mary Beth lost her battle last year.
To help ease Mary Beth’s mind before she passed away, Zoey was adopted by another one of our volunteers, Deb Johnson.  Deb gave Zoey many wonderful years of doggie treats, walks around the neighborhood, kisses and hugs, and a place in her heart that she promised Mary Beth she would give her.
Deb was by Zoey’s side and Zoey is now by Mary Beth’s side where she is resting happily. Zoey may have had a rough start but in the end she was so fortunate to have the love of 2 of the most wonderful women in the Pittsburgh area. Some of us never get that kind of love at all and Zoey was so lucky to have them in her life.
Our hearts go out to Deb Johnson for the loss of such a wonderful dog; she will be missed.
As Michael Landon said

“Remember me with smiles and laughter for that’s way I’ll remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears then don’t remember me at all.”
